What is cache and how can I clear this?

Cache is data that is saved by the browser. The data/ information that is saved is sometimes incomplete or will stand in the way of retaining new information. Example: You just completed a course but the browser still shows the status: in progress.

When you clear the cache of a browser de newest version of a page or program will appear. Clearing the cache can solve problems and ensure that the correct information is shown.

Below are the descriptions of how to clear the cache for the different browsers. 

Internet Explorer

  • Click on extra/ settings (icon on the right)
  • Click safety > delete browsing history              
  • Select the information you want to remove
  • Shortcut: Ctrl + Shift + Del

Google Chrome

  • Click on the icon menu on the right
  • Select more tool > clear browsing data
  • Select the information you want to remove
  • Shortcut: Ctrl + Shift + Del

Firefox

  • Click on the icon menu on the right
  • Select options
  • Select Advanced
  • Select network
  • Click on Clear now

Other shortcuts (refresh page):

  • Ctrl + Shift + R
  • Ctrl + F5
